Poon Hill provides a fantastic panoramic view of the Himalayas including three mountains over 8000m. This area is a natural paradise harboring rare snow leopards, blue sheep, and diverse bird and plant species.

Itinerary

Day 1Kathmandui to Pokhara (910m/2986ft)

Drive to Pokhara. Sightseeing on the lakeside and boating on Phewa Lake.

Day 2Drive to Naya Pul, Trek to Tikhe Dhunga (1495m/4905ft)

Drive to Naya Pul, trek to Birethanti, and ascend to Sudami, Hile, and Thikhe Dhunga via a stone staircase and Ulleri village. 3:30 hours.

Day 3Trek to Ghorepani (2850m/9350ft)

Trek through rhododendrons, oak forests, and streams before climbing to Ghorepani. 5:30 hours.

Day 4Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani (2520m/8268ft)

Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3195m) for sunrise over Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Nilgiri, Annapurna range and others. Return to Ghorepani, then trek to Tadapani through ridges and forests. 6 hours.

Day 5Tadapani to Sinuwa (2310m/7579ft)

Descend from Tadapani with Modi Valley views. Pass Chhomrong village, descend to Chhomrong Khola, then ascend to Sinuwa. 6 hours.

Day 6Sinuwa to Deurali (3150m/10335ft)

Precede to Kuldi Ghar, descend to Modi river gorge, pass Tomo pasture, Pantheon Barah shrine to Deurali. 6 hours.

Day 7Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp Climb to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3900m) via glaciers

Walk the rocky moraine to Annapurna Base Camp with views of rivers, flowers, Mt. Annapurna range, and Mt. Fishtail.

Day 8Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2610m/8563ft)

Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2610m/8563ft) Descend 1700m to Modi Khola river bank to Bamboo. 5:30 hours.

Day 9Bamboo to Chhomrong (2110m/6923ft)

Return to Chhomrong with views of Machhapuchhre, through rhododendron and bamboo fields. 4.5 hours.

Day 10Chhomrong to Ghandruk (1940m/6365ft)

Descend through forests to Gurjung Khola, ascend to Kimche, and reach Ghandruk village. Visit the Annapurna Conservation Office and Museum. 4:30 hours.

Day 11Drive to Pokhara (910m/2986ft)

Evening free to wander by lakes.

Day 12Pokhara to Kathmandu
